Packaged Activated Carbon Odour Filters

FiltaCarbTM vapour phase packaged activated carbon filtration systems for the control of sewer odours and toxic industry gases.

About FiltaCarbTM activated carbon filter technology

FiltaCarbTM vapour phase activated carbon systems provide an efficient and economical means to reduce VOC concentrations, corrosive gases including Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) and toxic vapours to control odours. They provide immediate adsorption upon contact with the gases. All of the systems have a specified contact time to ensure they meet optimum performance throughout the life of the media. The filter vessels are filled with a specific granular activated carbon, which is suitable for a variety of odour abatement applications.

The FiltaCarbTM range of filter systems can meet any flow requirement and range in size from small filter drum designs through to large 3.6m diameter HDPE vessels. They can also be arranged in parallel to accommodate higher flow rates. All the filters are designed for the efficient use of the activated carbon in the bed while maintaining a low pressure drop to reduce loading on the blower and maximise its life.

The plug’n’play modular design of Bioaction’s FiltaCarbTM filter systems provide total flexibility in designing the system to suit the target flow requirements and emission reduction outcomes. The modular design also enables it to be positioned in relatively constrained spaces in comparison to other systems. The modular design is constructed on an engineered skid base to enable rapid installation and commissioning, typically within 1-3 days of delivery to site.

The configuration of media composition within the system enables Bioaction’s experts to reduce odour profiles by more than 99.5% of Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S). They can also address complex industrial gases and target reduction outcomes to determine system design and the type of adsorption media.

Vent Cube Activated Carbon Odour Filters

FiltaCarbTM vent cube series vapour phase activated carbon filtration systems for the control of sewer odours and toxic industrial gases.

• Comes complete with fan and flow control dampener
• Quick and simple installation

The FiltaCarbTM vent cube offers a simple and secure solution for fugitive odours from pump stations. The system can be mounted directly above a penetration into the wet well or mounted locally and ducted to the system. The system is supplied complete with extraction fan and sound attenuator. The vent cube has a robust construction with high durability and is UV and corrosion resistant.
Suitable for wastewater pump stations, rising mains and manholes. It is also suitable for other industrial emission applications where specific filtration media can be applied to treat the target emissions.

All FiltaCarbTM vent cube models have incorporated into their design a fats and greases pre-filter to maintain constant air pressure and increase the life of the carbon media. This pre-filter also makes the system easier to maintain as it can be cleaned as often as necessary.

Unlike passive filters and vents, the forced extraction of the FiltaCarbTM vent cube provides a controlled rate of extraction. This enables better operational management of the fugitive and potentially corrosive gases.

75-Series Canister Activated Carbon Odour Filters

FiltaCarbTM 75 series vapour carbon canisters, each containing 75kg of activated carbon, are ideal for low-flow air purification for industrial and municipal applications. These budget adsorption filters are specifically designed for wastewater and acid gas emissions but they are also suitable for a range of industrial gases.

The Bioaction FiltaCarbTM filter series provides total flexibility in designing a system to suit the target flow requirements and emission reduction outcomes. They are particularly well suited to:


• Sewer vents, wet stations and weir boxes at chemical and municipal wastewater treatment plants.
• Sewer pump stations
• Sewer wet wells
• Inlet works
• Storage Tanks
• Other acid emission sources

The configuration of media composition within the system enables Bioaction’s experts to reduce odour profiles by more than 99.5% of H2S. They can also address high levels of other odourous gases such as Ammonia, Mercaptans and Dimethyl Sulphide that may be present in the odour if an odour profile exists for the problem at hand. VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) can also be addressed in these systems as part of the media composition
